His connection to Peter Thiel
The two met in 2011 at Yale Law School after Vance attended a talk given by Thiel.
Following their initial meeting, Thiel became a mentor to Vance.
In 2015, Vance went to work for Thiel’s venture capital firm, Mithril Capital, in San Francisco.
Thiel was the single largest donor to Vance’s 2022 Ohio Senate campaign. He contributed approximately $15 million to the Protect Ohio Values Super PAC, a staggering amount that was instrumental in helping Vance win a crowded Republican primary and the general election.
Beyond money, they share a distinct ideological worldview. Both have been vocal critics of the “coastal elite,” university systems, and traditional political establishments.
